As I was finishing my college degree in Psychology, I really began to feel that althought I enjoyed working with and helping people, I was yearning to do it in a more "hands on" way. So, just a few days after graduation, I started classes at Classic Touch School of Therapeutic Massage in Springfield, IL. At the end of 2005 I graduated and opened up Renew You. Over the next few years several friendly faces came and left, leaving me with lots of great memories and tons of life experience. In 2009, I decided to focus on just massage and now I share responsibilities equally with my colleagues here. Over the last three years I have found deep satisfaction in helping my clients reach states of healing, relaxation and restoration. I believe that the body is capable of healing and balancing itself, if given the opportunity to do so. I also enjoy the freedom that being a self-employed Massage Therapist gives me. I have many interestes outside of massage and I am constantly learning, traveling, meeting new people and experimenting with new ideas. I am also a Level 2 Reiki practitioner and absolutely love the connection to true peace that this art form allows.

I am a professional career Massage Therapist. I am certified by a national organization, the NCBTMB, and licensed by the state of Illinois. I am a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association since 1996. I also have a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Mexico, Albequerque. Otherwise, I am a human being with friends, family, hobbies, and a career.

Michael Guymon, Reiki Master/Teacher

My journey into the healing arts and therapy began when I was in college. I was searching for something that fit and felt right, most of my current interests involved holistic and alternative therapies from eastern and western traditions of natural healing. Not finding anything in school that fit was I was looking for, it wasn’t until I was 21 that I came across Reiki, and it fit and felt exactly what I was looking for. I have been traditionally trained and certified in Usui Reiki Shiki Ryoho; this is the original lineage that came from Japan in the 1900’s. In the beginning, shortly after learning Reiki a co-worker of mine that was extremely healthy and active had a stroke - this was just a one of the experiences that urged me to deepen my understanding of the body and how we ourselves can have health and well being. I am continually inspired by the interconnectedness of life and am grateful to be able to offer Reiki to others in the kind and unassuming space of Renew You.

In a Reiki session I combine other healing arts such as Jin Shin Jutsu, Meridian clearing, Chakra clearing and balancing and sound therapy to aid in the well being and harmony of the mental, physical and emotional aspects of the client. Sessions are planned according to the needs of the client as well a intuitively listening to the body's needs for relaxation and healing.

Beyond the sessions of Reiki, I teach Reiki to others so everyone can benefit from the simple method of self healing and growth. Art, music and movement are a passion of mine as well as is being in awe of nature. I express these interests in a form of fire performance (spinning) called poi, now after 2 years of performing and practicing I also offer hands on classes in the Canton area to all that are interested.

I attended Halsa Hem School of Massage in Springfield, IL in 2002. This was less than six months after I graduated from Western with a degree in communication. I decided to get into massage therapy to help people feel better, although there are many more reasons I have grown to love it in the past six years.
